flox records the success of package builds over time in the flox catalog, the public version of which is limited to the latest 3 versions as observed in each of the 3 stabilities as described in Stabilities. This provides flox with the ability to install older versions of packages, including those that are no longer available in Nixpkgs, and provides flox users with the assurance that they will never have to wait for or worry that a build may not complete.
